How do you turn everyday spaces into experiences that bring people together?
At MediaCorp, Singapore’s national broadcaster, the answer grew, quite literally, on its walls.
Partnering with Grobrix, MediaCorp transformed ordinary corridors into living gardens where teams harvest rocket, basil, and edible flowers grown right inside the office. What started as a simple idea to reimagine workspace design soon became something bigger, a shared ritual that connects people through taste, curiosity, and care.
These vertical gardens now grow fresh rocket, basil, and edible flowers that employees harvest themselves. Supported by Grobrix’s Farming-as-a-Service model , the walls require no maintenance from staff, just fresh, pesticide-free produce and a new sense of connection to the environment.
What began as an experiment soon transformed workplace culture. Through interactive workshops like pesto-making and salad sessions, employees bonded over shared values of health, community, and care for the planet.
As James Hollis, Head of Sustainability at MediaCorp, notes, “The Grobrix installation has become a highlight on our office tours. It sparks conversations about sustainability and encourages people to reflect on where their food comes from.”
The impact has been powerful - fresher air, lower food waste, and stronger employee engagement. Survey results from 500 Grobrix clients echo and validate these outcomes:
93% report a stronger workplace community
97% see a lasting sustainability mindset
98% note healthier eating habits
96% experience improved mental well-being
By turning walls into living ecosystems, MediaCorp found a simple yet meaningful way to grow sustainability, health, and connection—one harvest at a time.
